Controller, Finance & Banking, Bookkeeper​/ Accounting Clerk

As a controller, you will play a crucial role in managing the financial aspects and organization of our projects. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate records of job costs, tracking vendor and subcontractor payments, payroll and ensuring all financial transactions are recorded meticulously. This role requires a self-starter who can handle multiple projects simultaneously, provide valuable insights for financial planning, and communicate effectively with the company owner and other stakeholders.

• Record Transactions: Accurately record all financial transactions, including contracts, receipts, and subcontractor payments.
• Run Payroll: Handle weekly payroll for W-2 and 1099 employees.
• Manage Job Costs: Maintain detailed records of job costs, such as labor, materials, subcontractors, and overhead expenses. Ensure costs are accurately allocated to the appropriate projects.
• Handle Payments: Track and manage incoming and outgoing vendor, staff and subcontractor payments. Ensure bills are paid on time and invoices are collected and sent.
• Reconcile Accounts: Regularly reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial accounts to ensure accuracy.
• Reconcile Accounts: Responsible for managing and processing payroll accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations
• Prepare Tax Documents: Prepare and file tax-related documents and reports with assistance from an accounting firm. Assist with annual audits as needed.
• Financial Planning: Provide data and insights to assist with financial planning and decision-making.
• Organize Records: Maintain and organize financial records, ensuring they are easily accessible and secure.
• Handle Queries: Address and resolve financial queries from vendors and clients.
• Communication: Follow up and conduct weekly calls with the company leadership to discuss financial matters and project updates.

• Proven experience (6+ years) as an accountant or in a similar role, preferably within the construction industry.
• Proficiency in accounting software
  - Quick Books and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong understanding of financial principles and job cost accounting.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
