This is public safety work involving the care and security of inmates within a correctional facility or jail.

Graduation from a standard senior high school or successful completion of the GED test, preferably with police or corrections related experience or training; or a combination of education and experience equivalent to these requirements.

• Must be at least 19 years old.
• Must possess a valid driver's license from the state of residence.
• Must successfully complete a physical agility test administered by the Sheriff's Department. For details, see Class Specifications.
