Position: Imaging Sonographer (PRN), Ultrasound - Children's & Women's Hospital

Responsibilities
  • Prepares patients for examinations and explains procedures to patients while performing studies; evaluates the clinical history of a patient with the test to be performed; consults with physicians to determine appropriate ultrasonic procedures required.
  • May train lower level technicians in cardiac and vascular studies; may perform cardiac/vascular studies for training purposes under direct supervision of an appropriately registered ultrasonographer or physician.
  • Recognizes the significance of all structures that are visualized on the oscilloscope at all times; differentiates artifacts from normal or pathological processes and recognizes electronic equipment limitations.
  • Properly labels, coats, and mounts the permanent recording of the scans for protection and filing.
  • Researches, develops, and recommends new procedures and techniques to be used; provides in-service training to students and other personnel in ultrasound; maintains scan logs and procedure manuals; maintains service records on ultrasound equipment.
  • Regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required; performs related duties as required.
Qualifications

high school diploma or equivalent and completion of an approved ultrasound training program from an accredited institution - or - two years of ultrasound experience. RDMS or RVT registered with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or RVS registered with Cardiovascular Credentialing International is required. Other combinations and experience may be considered as designated by the ARDMS/CCI registry eligibility requirements.
