Responsibilities- Rotate within the Radiology and CT departments as needed; assist in training Radiology and CT students.
- Perform digital image management tasks such as exceptions and annotations.
- Maintain competency with all imaging equipment and supplies, including CT, fluoroscopy, power injectors, post-processing software, digital fluoroscopy, and diagnostic equipment.
- Demonstrate proper positioning for all exams, label images correctly, and use appropriate scanning protocols based on patient and body part.
- Ensure radiation safety for patients, staff, and self.
- Recognize emergencies and initiate code procedures as needed.
- Perform patient assessments, including allergy and drug interaction screenings.
- Review prior imaging and patient history to ensure appropriate exam ordering, consulting radiologists or physicians when necessary.
- Maintain aseptic technique during invasive procedures.
- Assist radiologists during procedures and prepare patients for IV injections, administering contrast as per protocols.
- Maintain competency in point-of-care testing (POCT) for creatinine/eGFR, following CAP and CLIA guidelines.
- Respond appropriately to IV contrast extravasation.
- Review and critique images for diagnostic quality, adjusting parameters as needed.
- Adhere to protocols, QA guidelines, and regulatory standards.
- Participate in accreditation activities for the American College of Radiology (ACR).
- Greet patients, verify identity, explain procedures, and communicate effectively with patients and team members.
- Perform safety inspections, maintain supplies, and ensure department cleanliness.
- Complete all aspects of patient exams, including documentation, imaging, and billing.
- Follow infection control policies and maintain professional development through education and participation in professional societies.
- Attend to all duties with a positive attitude, punctuality, and flexibility for overtime as needed.
High school diploma or equivalent, completion of an approved Radiologic Technology course, and at least one year of experience in routine diagnostic procedures. Completion of an advanced modality program or one year of experience in advanced modality is required. A bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology may substitute for one year of experience. Certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Diagnostic Radiology is required;
advanced registry is preferred and may be required for certain modalities.
