Overview

Franklin Primary Health Center is seeking a Medical Assistant Outreach Specialist for our Mobile, AL location. This full-time position combines community outreach with clinical support, focusing on health insurance education and enrollment assistance across multiple counties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct public education on Medicaid, CHIP, and Marketplace coverage options
  • Develop and execute outreach and enrollment strategies and work plans
  • Provide culturally appropriate health education and trainings
  • Coordinate with grassroots partners and local health agencies
  • Assist individuals in understanding and accessing affordable coverage
  • Ensure all outreach materials are approved prior to distribution
  • Maintain strong community partnerships and network presence
  • Deliver technical assistance and training to community partners
  • Provide progress reports and presentations to management
  • Use own vehicle for regional travel (mileage reimbursed)
  • Maintain and secure assigned equipment and supplies
Medical Assistant Responsibilities
  • Record patient vitals, weights, and chief complaints
  • Ensure lab results are in charts before provider visits
  • Assist in exam rooms and with procedures or treatments
  • Administer medications as ordered, under supervision
  • Send follow-up letters for missed appointments or abnormal results
  • Maintain stock and organization in exam and supply rooms
  • Provide lab coverage when needed
  • Rotate to front desk, x-ray, or lab departments as required
  • Maintain CPR certification and CEUs per licensure board requirements
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required; BS in social services or related field preferred
  • Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program or equivalent experience
  • Familiarity with Medicaid, CHIP, and the Health Insurance Marketplace
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel)
  • Strong public speaking, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to explain complex information clearly to diverse audiences
  • Knowledge of local public health resources and regional communities
  • Valid driver’s license, personal vehicle, and insurance required
Work Schedule & Pay

Full-time | Monday–Friday | Day shift | $17.00–$19.00 per hour
