The ARS Behavioral Aide Residential, PRN role at AltaPointe Health Systems supports adults with serious and persistent mental illness in our group homes. Our Adult Residential Services combine medical, nursing and clinical care to provide intensive support for more than 200 residents, with the goal of preventing rehospitalization and facilitating successful community placement.

Essential Functions
  • Provides ongoing monitoring and interaction with consumers, including training on basic living skills (BLS) and implementation of behavioral plans when applicable.
  • Meets daily productivity standards through individual and group BLS services.
  • Assists consumers with personal care issues such as bathing, toileting and hygiene, medication administration, chores and safety.
  • Demonstrates willingness to work at any ARS facility based on staffing needs.
  • Prepares consumer meals per individualized dietary orders, posts menus and stocks food and household items.
  • Recognizes crisis states and proactively deescalates or resolves situations.
  • Maintains ongoing compliance with the Nurse Delegation Program, including recertification requirements.
  • Adheres to posted household schedules, individual appointments and planned activities.
  • Transports consumers to and from appointments and outings.
  • Models appropriate behavior, including communication skills, grooming and manners.
  • Works with consumers and staff to ensure house cleanliness.
  • Completes hand‑off communication at shift change and collaborates with treatment team members.
  • Performs routine health and safety tasks for both house and vehicles.
  • Reports accidents or driving violations to supervisor and human resources.
  • Seeks supervision and consultation as needed.
  • Accepts and employs suggestions for improvement.
  • Attends regularly scheduled staff meetings.
  • Documents services in a timely, legible manner and records individualized consumer responses and progress toward goals.
  • Treats consumers with care, dignity and compassion while respecting their privacy and confidentiality.
  • Maintains a pleasant and cooperative attitude, adapting to consumer needs and differences.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities and AltaPointe committees as required.
  • Completes assigned tasks in a timely manner and follows AltaPointe policies and procedures.
  • Attends in‑service training and workshops as directed.
  • Performs any other duties assigned by supervisor or designee.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent to constant standing while organizing and stocking groceries.
  • Sitting is frequent, with extended sitting periods up to 1.5 hours for documentation and 1 hour for group time.
  • Walking diverse distances on campus up to approximately 300 feet.
  • Squatting and lunging frequently to stock or retrieve supplies and lift cookware.
  • Strong grasp required for handling groceries, supplies and cooking tasks.
  • Fine manipulation for writing and handling paperwork.
  • Pushing or pulling light loads (5 lbs) to open standing freezer doors.
  • Lifting weights from the floor to overhead up to 15 lbs frequently, 30–40 lbs to 48 inches occasionally, and 50 lbs to waist 1–2 times per day.
  • Performing mop, sweep, bed making, and laundry tasks for consumers as needed.
  • Any other duties assigned by supervisor.
Scheduling and Hours

This is a self‑scheduling position where employees choose preferred shifts six weeks in advance. Full‑time employees work three 12‑hour shifts per week, rotating weekends. Part‑time employees work one to two shifts per week depending on location. PRN (as needed) employees work approximately one shift or more per month.

Overtime may be required and scheduled in advance.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be 23 years of age or older.
  • Valid Alabama driver’s license and proof of current liability insurance.
