ResponsibilitiesAssists persons seeking medical records information by having requesters fill out the appropriate forms and relays instructions regarding the procedure for obtaining medical records; assists physicians, Business Office and other medical record requestors by pulling charts, answering questions, and performing follow-up regarding chart completion; verifies receipt and handles all current and previous requests for medical record release of information; processes requests for medical records within five days of receipt with the exception of “Special Requests”, which are handled immediately;
reviews all requests received to determine if authorization by the patient/representative is required or if the authorization received is valid; coordinates with all requesters in order to release confidential information; performs medical record quality assurance functions as required; answers incoming phone calls and takes messages; utilizes and accesses both the Hospital Information System and CARLOS via personal computer; responds to overhead pages;
regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required; related duties as required.
Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.
QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent and two years of general clerical experience, one of which was in medical records.
