This position is located in Mobile, Alabama.
DutiesThe U.S. Attorney's Office is currently recruiting for an AUSA position in the Civil Division. The Civil Division is responsible for defending all civil actions filed against the United States, its agencies, officers, and employees in the Southern District of Alabama. The defensive caseload includes tort litigation, employment litigation, immigration litigation, bankruptcy litigation, and the defense of civil rights lawsuits filed against federal officers and employees for alleged constitutional violations.
The Civil Division is also responsible for investigating and prosecuting affirmative civil cases for damages due to fraud upon the federal government including healthcare fraud, immigration related employment fraud, and civil monetary penalties for violations of federal program regulations. The affirmative caseload includes fraud cases brought under statutes such as the False Claims Act, as well as federal regulatory enforcement actions, and civil forfeiture cases.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
Security RequirementsInitial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory preemployment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. In addition, continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
Residency RequirementsAssistant United States Attorneys generally must reside in the district to which he or she is appointed or within 25 miles thereof. See 28 U.S.C. 545 for district specific information.

Requirements- You must be a United States Citizen or National.
