Job DescriptionThe Service Manager will provide support to the District Manager and assume advanced responsibilities in support of the branch and its daily operations. The role includes coaching and training field service technicians on commercial food equipment, procedures, techniques, and customer‑facing skillsets. The Service Manager will also enforce company policies and assist the District Manager in tracking adherence. The position is accountable for leading branch operations to achieve service revenue growth, profitability, productivity, quality, and service levels.
The Service Manager will manage general business operations, lead a team of Field Service Technicians and lower‑level supervisory staff, develop, maintain, and manage a highly technical field service team, and implement strategies to achieve financial and customer satisfaction results. Additional responsibilities include employee development, retention, engagement, and maintenance of service vehicles.
- Provide coaching and training to field service technicians on equipment, procedures, and customer service.
- Support and enforce all company policies and guidelines.
- Assist District Manager in adherence and tracking of policies.
- Help lead and direct branch operations to achieve revenue growth, profitability, productivity, quality, and service levels.
- Administer general business operations for the branch and manage a team of Field Service Technicians and supervisory staff.
- Develop, maintain, and manage a highly technical field service team.
- Implement strategies focused on achieving/exceeding financial and customer satisfaction results.
- Support employee development and increase retention and engagement.
- Manage regular maintenance of service vehicles.
- High School Diploma or GED with 4+ years of relevant experience, including supervision, OR 1-3 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree.
- Experience managing customer relations and dealing directly with customers.
- Proficiency with productivity tools, e.g., Microsoft Office.
- Ability to achieve targets and goals with minimal supervision.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Electrical and mechanical service experience.
- Valid driver’s license.
- 5-7 years of demonstrated proficiency in a field service role.
- Ability to understand financial information such as margins, labor cost, mark‑ups and expense control.
- Working knowledge of branch operating systems.
- Customer Relations Management / Sales experience.
- Associate’s degree or prior Hobart Service supervisory experience.
