Preferred Qualifications Job Description Summary The University of South Alabama's Grounds department is seeking to hire a Groundskeeper II.

- Mows and edges lawns.
- Removes grass clippings, leaves, pine needles, weeds, trash and debris from lawns and landscape areas.
- Trims, prunes, and mulches trees, shrubs and flowers.
- Polices grounds and collects, loads, and hauls away trash.
- Applies irrigation water and chemicals to lawns, trees, flowers, and shrubs as needed or directed.
- Digs holes and plants flowers, shrubs, and trees.
- Performs basic fertilization applications on trees and shrubs.
- Operates tools and equipment such as pruner, line trimmer, blower, rake, shovel, push mower, edger, sod cutter, riding mower, tractor-mounted flail/bush hog, hydraulic tree spade, tractor-mounted spreader/sprayer, and high-speed chipper grinder.
- Sweeps streets, driveways and parking lots as needed.
- May be responsible for performing groundskeeping and custodial duties in maintaining a small group of buildings and grounds.
- May be required to operate a motor vehicle to travel to and from work sites or transport materials, including water tanker.
- Maintains and calibrates equipment as required.
- Installs and repairs irrigation systems and guy stakes on trees as needed.
- Regular and prompt attendance.
- Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required.
- Related duties as required.
