Duties

Special agents perform investigations and protection duties, often at multiple duty stations across the U.S. and abroad.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing protection for various protectees.
  • Conducting criminal investigations related to U.S. financial obligations.
  • Planning and executing security for National Special Security Events.
Requirements
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Must carry and be proficient with a firearm.
  • Minimum age of 21 at application, less than 37 at conditional offer, with exceptions for prior federal service or veterans' preference.
  • Obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance.
  • Visual acuity of 20/100 binocular uncorrected, 20/20 corrected; hearing within specified limits.
  • Pass drug tests before and during employment.
  • Complete 13 weeks of training at FLETC and 18 weeks at the James J. Rowley Training Center.
  • Willingness to accept assignments nationwide and overseas.
  • Register with the Selective Service System if applicable.
