Overview
Mas Tec Civil is currently hiring for Concrete Finishers / Carpenters to join our team in Mobile, AL.
A Concrete Finisher is a craft hourly‑rated employee who can expertly pour, level, and smooth concrete on a variety of surfaces including roads, sidewalks, curbs, bridge decks and floors. He may also be required to set the forms that hold the concrete in place, patch existing surfaces, cut expansion joints, and monitor the curing of the concrete to ensure a high‑quality finish.

ResponsibilitiesESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Setting forms that hold the concrete in place and remove them accurately once the concrete is set.
- Cleaning and inspecting surfaces for pouring issues.
- Directing the casting of the concrete with the truck driver or pump operator.
- Pouring, smoothing, and leveling concrete using a rake, trowel, float, and screed. This includes handheld tools and power tool versions. Bid Well
- Monitoring the effects of the weather on the curing process.
- Applying sealing, curing, and hardening components.
- Safely operating power vibrator to ensure the concrete is compacted.
- Molding and constructing expansion joints using joiners and edging tools.
- Polishing surface using a power surfacing machine.
- Removing existing concrete using grinders, electric chipping hammers or heavy‑duty pneumatic jack hammers.
- Even if not essential or required, the knowledge of setting, maintaining, and operating a Bid Well Bridge Paver Machine is highly appreciated
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- 1‑year construction related experience (concrete work and finishing)
- Completion of High School or secondary education is preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
REQUIRED:
A successful Concrete Finisher must possess the skills necessary for the trade and be familiar with the latest concrete pouring technology, someone who can work shifts, if necessary, over weekends, and should also be physically fit and be able to stand for long periods of time, work on his knees, lift heavy materials, and work outdoors in high heat and cold weather.
