Maintenance Mechanic

Performs of a variety of repairs in several of the skilled trades; works at this level may include replacing and repairing plumbing fixtures, replacing plaster, and laying bricks; maintains and repairs steam boilers, heating and air conditioning equipment, pumps, motors, water softeners, air compressors, and related equipment; performs finished carpentry work; work is performed under the general supervision of a higher level technical employee who reviews the work through inspections for desired results;

installs, maintains, and repairs electric motors, generators, and related electrical and mechanical equipment; installs, maintains, and repairs valves, sinks, wash bowls, sewers, and other sanitary fixtures; performs a variety of brick, cement, and carpentry work; performs electric and acetylene welding and brazing; may perform maintenance and make repairs to heating and air conditioning equipment; operates power lathes, drill presses, threading machines, and grinding machines;

may be required to a operate motor vehicle to travel to and from work sites or transport materials; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required; performs related duties as required.

High school diploma or equivalent and two years experience in the maintenance and repair of buildings, plumbing, or mechanical equipment. Experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
