Summary/Objective

The Service Technician is responsible for the self‑directed effective repair of equipment at high levels of quality while exceeding customer expectations.

Essential Functions

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Diagnose, inspect, recondition, repair, assemble and service equipment according to technical manuals in a timely manner, as assigned by the Service Manager

Document machine information and repairs completed on work orders including parts and fluids

Maintain a clean work area, as well as care for all shop tools, machines, and equipment

Maintain technical and product knowledge on all equipment serviced by the dealership

Safely operate all machines marketed by the dealership

Assist other service technicians as required by the Service Manager

Maintain positive and professional working relationships with coworkers, management, and vendors with a constant commitment to teamwork and exemplary customer service

Perform all other duties as assigned by management in a professional and efficient manner

Follow all safety rules and regulations and adhere to all policies and procedures as specified in company manuals and the employee handbook

Participate in all company driven communication efforts including department meetings, electronic communications (email and text) and other related efforts

Proactively seek and participate in available company sponsored training to develop skills and knowledge

Maintain prompt and regular attendance according to department and company policies

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in service/parts departments and will be exposed to outside weather conditions, noise, vibration, fumes, odors, dust, electrical shock, toxic or caustic chemicals, heights and close proximity to moving mechanical parts.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continuously required to stand, bend and stoop. The employee is frequently required to lift or carry up to 20 lbs., walk, reach above, push, and pull and use hands and fingers for fine manipulation.

The employee is occasionally required to sit, lift, and carry up to 100 lbs.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance and color vision. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear at moderate noise levels.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full‑time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Overtime and weekends, as necessary.

Job Requirements

1+ years of service technician experience preferred

Experience with repairing riding and commercial lawn mowers, 2‑cycle equipment weed eaters,

chainsaws, and blowers

Knowledge in small engines (Kawasaki, Kohler, Briggs, etc.)

Strong mechanical skills

Graduation from related diesel technology program preferred

Trade specific tooling including hand tools and pneumatic tools

Diagnose diesel/gas engines

Electronic Diagnostic ability

Knowledge of hydraulic systems, drive lines, electrical systems, and cutting units

High Level of urgency towards customer, quality, and efficiency

Excellent customer service skills

Strong oral and written communication skills

Excellent organizational skills

Ability to assemble and perform maintenance functions on equipment

Ability to use personal computers and various types of diagnostic equipment

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measurements using whole numbers,

fractions, and decimals
