* Position Summary:

* Performs and provides guidance for the design, development, and implementation of highly complex business and engineering applications. This role acts as a technical authority, setting standards and best practices, and mentoring other developers to ensure the creation of robust, scalable, and high-quality software solutions. The Principal Engineering Applications Developer works closely with the management team and stakeholders to translate complex requirements into technical strategies and is responsible for solving the most challenging and ambiguous technical problems within the organization.

* Primary Responsibilities
* Design, Prototype and Test - 60%

* Develops new software and improves existing software based on requirements and requests from customers and colleagues.

* Participates in solution design, requirements gathering, and backlog refinement processes

* Assist in the design process of new systems and architectures and inform the development of better programming practices and procedures. Designs, implements and documents new platform technologies including best patterns and engineering practices

* Designs, develops, implements, documents, and tests changes across multiple applications to ensure deliverables are high quality and meets user expectations

* Applies extensive technical expertise and strong knowledge of other related engineering disciplines (e.g., cloud architecture, data security) to all responsibilities.

* Acts as technical expert to analyze, consult, and recommend application software solutions based on the business needs

* Develops advanced technological ideas and guides their development into a final product.

* Works individually and with cross functional teams to develop solutions from product requirements, business cases, and development plans

Project Management and Documentation - 25%

* Leads technical aspects of major projects successfully, supporting all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle.

* Crafts project plans and planning at the program level, setting goals/target specs, and KPIs. Owns the quality of execution, iteration speed, quality of the decision-making, and quality of the results (as appropriate) of projects. Leads projects and is responsible for technical leadership within projects. Consistently and successfully delegates work and divides up complex tasks for project teams.

* Exercises discretion and independent judgment in the application of specialized knowledge on work that is predominantly intellectual and for which the output produced or the result accomplished cannot be standardized in relation to a given period of time.

* Determines and pursues courses of action necessary to obtain desired results.
