The Hourly Range: $78.15 to $124.94
The Doctorate Range: $92.09 to $128.22

Part Time Faculty office Hours are paid at a flat rate of $30 per hour.

Scope of Assignment

Under the general supervision of the Division Dean for the discipline, the successful applicant will provide lecture and/or laboratory instruction in accordance with course descriptions, outlines, and class schedules; evaluate progress of students; advise students concerning educational matters, and perform other related duties as assigned.

The successful candidate will join an Arts, Science and Human Performance department that continues to create curriculum responsive to student needs, increasing student completion through the implementation of strategies geared to increase student equity.

Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s in any biological science OR Bachelor’s in any biological science AND Master’s in biochemistry, biophysics, or marine science OR the equivalent

Knowledge of and ability to appraise the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college students. Sensitivity to the needs, problems and challenges associated with the diversity of the community college student population.

Physical and Mental Standards
  • Mobility: ability to sit or stand for long periods, move about an office, and reach above and below desk level.
  • Dexterity: fine manipulation sufficient to operate a keyboard, handle papers, write and take notes.

    Physiology at the community college level, with a particular emphasis in basic skills.
  • Current knowledge of Biology:
    Physiology.
  • Current understanding of assessment processes for improving student success at the course, program, and degree level.
  • Competent in new pedagogies, such as Universal Design, and other pedagogies directed at improving student success and student equity.
