Our District Support Pharmacists (DSPs) play a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence within each pharmacy. Acting as a role model, you will support pharmacist scheduling gaps, oversee pharmacy operations, and ensure safe, accurate prescription fulfillment.

DSP Responsibilities
  • Living our purpose by helping to manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices.

  • Assuming Pharmacy Manager’s day‑to‑day duties when serving as the only or primary pharmacist‑on‑duty.
  • Contributing to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and coaching the team to do the same.
  • Proactively offering and delivering immunizations and supporting Pharmacy Technicians to learn to immunize.
  • Managing pharmacy inventory, especially protecting cold‑chain products.
  • Remaining flexible for scheduling and business needs while fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic.
  • Maintaining relevant clinical and technical skills through required trainings and CMEs, and seeking opportunities to expand knowledge.
  • Supporting access to care and improving patient outcomes through pharmacist‑delivered clinical care such as testing and prescribing services.
  • Understanding and complying with all relevant laws, regulations, professional standards, and CVS Health policies, including controlled substance dispensing and record‑keeping.
Required Qualifications
  • Active Pharmacist License in the state where the store is located.
  • Active National Provider Identifier (NPI).
  • Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list.
Essential Functions
  • Travel within a reasonable radius to support market staffing as business needs require.
  • Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
  • Ability to complete required training within the designated timeframe.
  • Attention and Focus
    • Concentrate on tasks over time, pivot quickly, and confirm prescription information and label accuracy.
  • Customer Service and Team Orientation
    • Actively look for ways to help people in a friendly manner.
    • Respond appropriately to patient reactions.
  • Communication Skills
    • Use and understand verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues.
    • Practice active listening and give full attention to what others are saying.

    • Identify challenging interactions and choose the best course of action when faced with multiple options.
  • Physical Demands
    • Remain mobile and upright for extended periods; lift, scan, bag items, reach overhead, and perform repetitive finger work.
    • Lift up to 20 lbs occasionally and up to 10 lbs frequently.
