Position Summary InformationReporting to the Associate Dean for Medical Integration, serves as the overall leader of the Sacramento ambulatory surgery center, ensures the center provides quality care and excellent customer service through the performance of the clinical team, ensures quality patient experience, maintains a safe environment for patients, manages all employees, and prepares for/maintains accreditation.
Essential Functions- Directs, coordinates, and supervises all activities of the surgery center.
- Ensures the efficient management of the center, including high levels of productivity and cost-effective supply utilization.
- Assures all daily operations of the facility comply with local, state, federal regulatory requirements, as well as standards established by the accrediting organization; responds to regulatory surveys as required.
- Leads and manages the preparation for program accreditation.
- Directs the operation of the facility and uses available resources to adequately maintain the space and equipment of the facility.
- Recruits new physicians/surgeons/dentists to appropriately staff the surgical center.
- Provides direction and takes proactive action to achieve the mission and strategic financial and clinical objectives of the facility.
- In conjunction with the medical staff and board, develops, implements, monitors and evaluates the implementation of all policies and procedures to ensure cost effective, safe and high-quality care is implemented.
- Administers board meetings and governance of the center.
- Partners with Business and Finance to coordinate the business affairs, including oversight of internal controls, management of cash, development and review of purchased services and maintenance contracts.
- Oversees clinical staff scheduling, performance, and effectiveness of clinical team members.
- Oversees the development of and adherence to short and long-range operational and capital budgets.
- Establishes and maintains excellent physician/dentist and partner relationships.
- Manages compliance, risk management, infection control, quality and performance improvement, clinical recruitment/retention and case management.
- Oversees credentialing and re-credentialing processes; following procedures set forth in the medical staff bylaws.
- Develops and monitors compliance with nursing policies.
- Ensures availability and accuracy of job descriptions for all categories of nursing services.
- Oversees new employee and student/resident orientation to the surgical center and manages competencies.
- Provide leadership and supervision to all clinical staff.
- Oversees ongoing in-service education program.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by Associate Dean for Medical Integration.
Knowledge of:
- State, federal and accrediting body regulations
- Standards related to ambulatory surgery center
- Surgical procedures and practices
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience, preferably in an ASC
- Minimum 3 years of clinical management experience, preferably in an ASC
- Minimum of 1 year experience in surgical/recovery nursing.
- Experience in budgeting and personnel management
Education/Licenses:
- Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing
- Current RN license in the State of California
- Current BLS and ACLS certification
- Work is performed in the private office setting and all clinical areas of the ASC
- Significant contact with staff/co-workers, students, residents, patients and their families, other employers, physicians, and their office staff, local hospital team members, and other members of the health care community
- Minimal travel may be required
- Routinely deal with proprietary and confidential information
