Position DescriptionThe School of Health Sciences at the University of Pacific invites applications for a part-time, one to three (1-3) days per week, non-tenure track position as a Visiting Clinical Professor of Audiology in the Audiology Department at the Stockton campus. The primary purpose of this position is to deliver a full array of clinical audiology services, provide clinical education to AuD students, and participate in a culture that promotes humanistic patient care at the highest possible standards of service for their individual needs.
Non-tenure-track faculty members collaborate in fulfilling the University’s mission to provide a superior, student-centered learning experience integrating liberal arts and professional education and preparing individuals for lasting achievement and responsible leadership in their careers and communities.
Clinical appointments are made upon the recommendation of the department faculty, where appropriate, to an academic program. The clinical appointment is nontenurable. A prefix such as “clinical”, or suffix such as “of Practice”, or other appropriate prefix or suffix, will be designated for these appointments, full-time or part-time. ( FHB 7.1.4). A Clinical appointment utilizes specialized skills and experience in a certain professional field and is mainly responsible for teaching related duties and, at times, Service and Research aspects if expected by the School.
- Perform audiological services (including threshold evaluation, speech audiometry, immittance testing, and otoacoustic emissions) to evaluate and define hearing problems.
- Counsel patients and/or the patient’s family regarding audiometric findings and subsequent recommendations.
- Provide comprehensive hearing aid services including evaluation, fitting, counseling, dispensing, electroacoustic and real ear analysis, orientation, earmold impression modification, and minor hearing aid repair.
- Refer patients and family members to appropriate professional specialists, agencies, and resources.
- Provide written reports as appropriate and maintain careful documentation of records of services provided to individuals.
- Work with local community partners (i.e., schools and assisted living facilities) to provide audio logic and hearing aid services.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA and guidelines established by local and state regulations for public health.
- Participate in the student clinical education, precepting and establishing high standards of student competency.
- Assist the Clinic Director with various tasks to enhance clinic operations, patient service policy and procedures, marketing efforts, and outreach activities.
- Attend clinic meetings and participate in program development and the improvement of services, as instructed by the clinic director.
- Actively participate in the comprehensive planning or review of the development and quality improvement of the educational programs and courses of study, assist in the evaluation of the effectiveness of such programs and courses, and make recommendations to the Deans and Provost concerning the University’s educational mission, programs, and policies.
