Purchasing Manager

We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager for a direct hire opportunity. This role is ideal for a procurement professional who understands the importance of securing the right materials, at the right cost, and on the right timeline. The Purchasing Manager will work closely with vendors, project management, estimating, production, and accounting to support efficient fabrication schedules and strong cost control.

• Purchase structural steel, bolts, decking, anchors, miscellaneous metals, and related materials for fabrication projects.
• Obtain competitive vendor quotes, negotiate pricing and delivery terms, and manage supplier performance.
• Review shop drawings, verify material grades, and issue, track, and update purchase orders.
• Coordinate material deliveries with production and fabrication schedules to help prevent shortages or delays.
• Monitor purchasing costs, support inventory control, and maintain material certifications, vendor records, and procurement documentation.
• Communicate proactively with internal teams regarding lead times, substitutions, shortages, delivery updates, and project needs.

• Salary: $80,000 to $90,000 per year.

• Lead material procurement for structural steel fabrication operations.
• Manage vendor quotes, purchase orders, pricing, delivery timelines, and supplier performance.
• Coordinate purchasing activity with project management, estimating, production, and accounting teams.
• Support cost control, inventory accuracy, and material documentation requirements.
• 10+ years of professional experience preferred based on the experience level for this role.
• Purchasing, procurement, or materials management experience required.
• Experience purchasing structural steel, fabrication materials, construction materials, or industrial project materials strongly relevant.
• Ability to read and review shop drawings and verify material grades.
• Strong negotiation, vendor management, organization, and time-management skills.
• High attention to detail with a practical focus on accuracy, scheduling, documentation, and cost control.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.

• Structural steel fabrication purchasing experience.
• Experience sourcing bolts, decking, anchors, miscellaneous metals, and related fabrication materials.
• Knowledge of material certifications, steel grades, vendor records, and project-based procurement workflows.
• Background supporting construction, industrial facilities, infrastructure, or metal fabrication environments.
