Salary Range: $104K–$147K DOE

We’re seeking an Accounting Services Manager to join our expanding Client Accounting Services team. In this hands-on leadership role, you’ll oversee a portfolio of high-level clients across various industries, while managing internal operations, driving projects to completion, and mentoring a growing team of professionals.

This opportunity is ideal for a former Controller or Senior Accounting professional from private industry, though we will also consider candidates with strong public accounting backgrounds who are ready to step into a fast-paced environment where they can make an impact. What You’ll Be Doing:

Leadership & Project Oversight

• Build, lead, and mentor an accounting services team, helping each member reach their full potential
• Oversee multiple client accounts, ensuring deadlines are met and service is consistent, accurate, and timely
• Lead month-end close processes, including reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting
• Set up and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and best practices for clients and internal operations
• Manage special projects including process improvements, technology transitions, or onboarding new clients
• Ensure that services align with client goals and regulatory requirements while delivering exceptional value

Technical & Operational Duties

• Supervise and support the team’s day-to-day accounting operations, including:
• Accounts payable/receivable
• Cash receipts
• Payroll processing and related filings
• Sales and use tax, fixed assets, and account reconciliations
• Conduct periodic reviews of accounting systems and recommend process improvements
• Collaborate closely with clients to understand business needs, offering guidance and insights that build long-term trust

What You Bring:

• Strong accounting background with hands-on experience in full-cycle accounting and internal controls
• Leadership experience setting up or building teams, ideally in a fast-paced or growing environment
• Project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and keep moving pieces aligned
• Proven experience with month-end close and process improvement
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; direct, professional, and collaborative
• A genuine desire to coach and mentor junior team members, fostering development and care
• Strong preference for candidates from private industry at the Controller or Accounting Manager level; public accounting experience also considered
• CPA or CMA preferred but not required
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required
• In-Person to Start: This is a primarily on-site role in Modesto, CA; hybrid flexibility offered after 3–6 months
