Position Overview
The Chief Financial Officer will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, reporting directly to the CEO and acting as a strategic business partner in company-wide decision-making. This is a hands‑on, full‑service CFO role requiring deep experience in construction and real‑estate accounting, cash management, and project‑based financial oversight.
The CFO will oversee all financial operations, HR, and payroll while providing strategic insight to support growth, profitability, and risk management across both construction and real‑estate entities.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Strategy
- Act as a trusted advisor and business partner to the CEO
- Participate in executive‑level decision‑making and long‑term strategic planning
- Provide financial insight and analysis to support operational and investment decisions
- Lead company‑wide cash flow management, forecasting, and liquidity planning
- Oversee banking relationships, credit facilities, and capital allocation
- Ensure strong internal controls and financial discipline across all entities
Construction & Project Accounting
- Oversee construction accounting, including job costing, WIP reporting, and project profitability
- Manage project accounting for multi‑phase and multi‑entity construction projects
- Ensure accurate tracking of subcontractor costs, retainage, and change orders
- Oversee accounting for owned real‑estate assets, including property‑level reporting
- Manage consolidated financial statements across construction and real‑estate entities
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and industry‑specific accounting standards
Systems & Technical Accounting
- Maintain and optimize accounting systems including Sage 100 and Procure
- Ensure accurate, timely, and meaningful financial reporting
- Lead audits, tax compliance, and coordination with external CPA firms
HR & Payroll Oversight
- Oversee HR and payroll functions, ensuring compliance and efficiency
- Partner with leadership on compensation strategy, benefits, and workforce planning
Qualifications
- CPA required
- Proven CFO or senior financial leadership experience within construction and/or real‑estate
- Strong background in construction accounting, project accounting, and cash management
- Hands‑on leadership style with strong technical accounting expertise
- Experience with Sage 100 and Procure (or similar construction accounting systems)
- Ability to operate strategically while remaining deeply involved in day‑to‑day financial operations
- Strong leadership, communication, and partnership skills
