Position Summary
Reporting to the Intensivist and Cardiovascular Surgeons, the CV Nurse Practitioner is responsible for routine care and management of the patient during their inpatient hospitalization both pre and post-surgery for patients at Doctors Medical Center. The Nurse Practitioner will be caring for patient being evaluated for CABG, VATS, Valve Surgeries, Esophagectomies, Esophageal Hernias, Carotid Endarterectomy and Vascular procedures. The ideal candidate implements and coordinates a plan of care for patients as part of the multidisciplinary team during their stay including initial consultation for preoperative management during the inpatient stay to discharge.
This process would include the coordination of surgical schedules, pre and post procedural / surgical screening and testing. The CV Nurse Practitioner follows the patient from Admission to Discharge to ensure smooth coordination and good patient outcomes.
- California Registered Nurse (RN) license, California Nurse Practitioner (NP) license required.
- Current Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (NP) Certification (AGACNP or ACNP) required.
- BLS and ACLS certifications required at time of hire.
- Cardiac Thoracic Vascular Nursing experience required and preferred.
- Working knowledge of inpatient and outpatient services with recent direct patient care experience preferred
- Ability to perform initial history, and physical examination, identify major medical problems, and formulate appropriate plans of action for discharging the patient to home, SNF, LTAC.
Physical Demands: “Prolonged, extensive or considerable standing / walking. Lift / position up to 50 lbs. Push / pull up to 50 lbs of force. Frequent reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching. Manual dexterity and mobility & ability to move quickly"
Vision Requirements: Ability to adjust vision sufficiently to perform position accountabilities.
Working Conditions: “Regularly exposed to the risk of contagious and blood borne diseases. Subject to varying and unpredictable situations. Exposure to unpleasant elements (accidents, injuries, illness). Emergency and crisis situations. Subject to irregular hours. Increased stress due to multiple calls and inquiries Occasional exposure to Operating Room (limited) and Inpatient environment."
Ideally the schedule will be one week on and one week off working with another nurse practitioner.
Nurse practitioner will have to work directly with surgeons, ICU team and hospitalists.
Benefits- $80.00 / hr
