We have partnered with a food company who’s looking for their new QA Manager to oversee their quality and food safety programs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food and have experience running BRC audits.
Key Responsibilities Food Safety & Quality Systems- Own and maintain the Food Safety Management System (FSMS), including HACCP, Preventive Controls, GMPs, SSOPs, and prerequisite programs.
- Lead certification and compliance efforts for applicable standards.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with FDA, USDA, FSMA, and applicable state and local regulations.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, customers, and third‑party auditors.
- Plan, execute, and close internal, customer, and third‑party audits.
- Drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) to timely and effective closure.
- Establish and monitor quality metrics, trends, and KPIs to drive continuous improvement.
- Lead root cause analysis for food safety and quality incidents and implement sustainable solutions.
- Oversee product release, nonconformance management, and disposition of hold product.
- Manage supplier approval, risk assessment, and ongoing performance monitoring.
- Review and approve specifications, COAs, and supplier documentation.
- Partner with Procurement to address supplier quality issues and risk mitigation.
- Develop and deliver food safety and quality training programs across the organization.
- Champion a proactive food safety culture through coaching, visibility, and accountability.
- Ensure role‑based training and competency requirements are defined and met.
- Collaborate with Operations to ensure food safety and quality requirements are embedded in daily execution.
- Support new product development, scale‑up, and process changes with food safety risk assessments.
- Provide clear, executive‑level reporting on food safety and quality performance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
- 5–10 years of progressive experience in food safety and quality roles within food manufacturing.
- Demonstrated experience leading third‑party audits and regulatory inspections.
- Strong working knowledge of HACCP, FSMA Preventive Controls, GMPs, and sanitation programs.
- Experience with GFSI‑recognized schemes.
- Proficiency in root cause analysis, risk assessment, and corrective action methodologies.
- Proven ability to influence cross‑functional teams without direct authority.
- Clear, concise communicator capable of engaging frontline teams and executive leadership.
- Practical, solutions‑oriented mindset with strong judgment under pressure.
- PCQI (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual)
