Almond Board of California is seeking a visionary Sr. Director to lead our next era of discovery and growth. This is a rare opportunity to shape the global future impact of almonds – where science, sustainability, and creativity intersect to drive real world impact.

As the leader of ABC’s Science & Innovation team, you’ll guide a dynamic portfolio that spans production research, pest management, biomass utilization, human nutrition, and environmental stewardship—while also pioneering new uses for almonds across culinary, CPG, institutional, and military channels.

You’ll integrate world-class research with bold innovation strategies, helping growers, food companies, and consumers reimagine what almonds can do. This is a full-time exempt position based at our headquarters in Modesto, CA with a hybrid work schedule.

• Lead the innovation pipeline, bringing new almond-based products and solutions to market.
• Oversee ABC’s scientific research programs across key domains.
• Build global partnerships with universities, companies, NGOs, and government agencies.
• Represent ABC as a thought leader at international conferences and forums.
• Inspire and mentor a team of scientific and ingredient innovation professionals.
• Provide strategic guidance to the Board and key research committees.

You are a proven science-driven innovator, someone who thrives at the intersection of agriculture, food systems, and sustainability. You combine deep technical expertise with commercial acumen, bringing ideas to life through collaboration and influence.

• PhD strongly preferred in food science, nutrition, agriculture, or sustainability.
• 15+ years of senior leadership in research, ingredient innovation, or scientific affairs (agriculture, food, or CPG industry).
• Demonstrated success driving innovation, commercialization, and measurable market growth.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and engaging at the Board or committee level.
• Global mindset, exceptional communication skills, and a track record of impact.
• A strategic mindset that can support our amazing team as we drive to new heights.
