Overview
Maintenance Technician 50% / Maintenance Specialist, Access Control/Locksmith 50% – Facilities Planning, Maintenance & Operations – Central Services / Columbia College
Job location:
Columbia College, Sonora, CA. 40 hours per week, 12 months per year. Typically Monday through Friday, with potential evening and weekend hours.
- Maintenance Technician 50%: perform semi-skilled maintenance, repair and construction tasks across carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, locksmith, welding and HVAC; operate hand and power tools; maintain records; and assist with preventive maintenance.
- Maintenance Specialist, Access Control/Locksmith 50%: install, repair and maintain lock systems and electronic access controls; administer master key system; manage district-wide access control system; perform related maintenance duties; keep documentation and records; assist with building renovations and new construction projects.
- Assist with other maintenance trade areas as needed; maintain safety and compliance with district policies and procedures.
- Maintenance Technician 50% – High School diploma or GED; two years of experience performing basic maintenance in support of one or more skilled trades (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, locksmith, welding, HVAC).
- Maintenance Specialist, Access Control/Locksmith 50% – High School diploma or GED; two years performing semi-skilled locksmith duties; substitution: completion of an approved vocational training course in commercial locksmith techniques may substitute for one year of experience.
- Knowledge of safety practices, tools, and trades; ability to interpret plans and blueprints; strong communication and record-keeping skills.
Skills and Abilities
- Maintenance Technician 50% – knowledge of semi-skilled trades (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, locksmith, welding, HVAC); ability to operate a variety of tools; ability to maintain records; ability to communicate effectively and establish working relationships.
- Maintenance Specialist, Access Control/Locksmith 50% – knowledge of locksmith methods, access control systems, key management software and institutional software; understanding of applicable laws and safety practices; ability to estimate costs and interpret data; strong communication skills.
- Maintenance Technician 50% – High School diploma or GED; two years of maintenance experience in related trades.
- Maintenance Specialist, Access Control/Locksmith 50% – High School diploma or GED; two years of semi-skilled locksmith work; vocational training may substitute for one year of experience.
- Maintenance Technician 50% – valid California driver’s license may be required depending on assignment.
- Maintenance Specialist, Access Control/Locksmith 50% – valid California driver’s license required.
- Mobility, dexterity and range of motion required to operate tools and perform maintenance tasks; ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 75 pounds occasionally; visual and hearing requirements; ability to handle public contact.
- Work is performed in indoor and outdoor environments; exposure to heat, cold, noise, chemicals, dust and fumes; travel between sites may be required.
