School Counseling position

Molalla Elementary School

Positions are 1.0 FTE

Anticipated start date:
August 21, 2025

JOB GOALS:

  • Assist students in the acquisition of knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to be good citizens and successful learners.
  • Provide appropriate instruction or learning opportunities for students with social and behavioral difficulties which may impede their ability to learn.
  • Provide appropriate interventions for students and families when necessary.
  • Assume a leadership role in promoting school-to-work activities.
  • Develop a positive working relationship with students, staff, administration, parents and community.
  • ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Holds a valid Oregon Counselor license/certificate.
  • Possesses skills to communicate effectively with the school community.
  • Possesses functional computer literacy, knowledge of word processing and an understanding of how computers can be effectively applied in the performance of one's job.
  • Maintains satisfactory attendance as defined in District policy and regulations.
  • PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides individual, small group and/or classroom instruction which promotes safe, healthy, and positive choices for behavior.
  • Assists teachers and administration in establishing school programs and activities which promote safe, healthy, and positive choices for behavior including service learning and leadership opportunities.
  • Communicates frequently with Instructional Assistants, teachers, administrators, and parents/guardians.
  • Works cooperatively with classroom teachers and support staff to best meet the needs of all students.
  • Provides information and/or learning opportunities for parents/guardians which address issues pertinent to raising middle school age children.
  • Works cooperatively with administrator to determine the allocation of one's time and prioritization of duties.
  • Assists in the development of the master schedule.
  • Assists students and parents with issues related to a student's team/class assignments.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate and complete records in a timely manner, as required by law District policy.
  • Maintains professional confidentiality concerning individual students.
  • Promotes school-to-work activities, such as service learning, community partnerships, site visitations, etc., by providing information and ideas to school staff.
  • Coordinates and assists appropriate instruction or learning opportunities for students with specialized programs, including TAG, students with behavioral I.E.P.'s and 504's.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning environment.
  • Takes all reasonable precautions to provide a safe, secure learning environment.
  • Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the District and/or in self-selected professional growth activities.
  • Maintains a high level of professional integrity by adhering to the Teacher Standards and Practices requirements for an Ethical Educator, (as written in the Staff Handbook) as well as Board Policy and State Law.
  • Participates in various meetings (e.g. staff, team, SST, MDT, I.E.P., parent conferences, inservice training, curriculum, school-to-work, etc.) for the purpose of receiving and/or providing information or sharing expertise.
  • Performs such other tasks as may be assigned by the Board or Administration.
  • ADDITIONAL CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, BONDING, AND/OR TESTING REQUIRED:

  • Oregon Counselor License/certificate
  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance
