As an Aircraft Seat and Upholstery Technician
, your primary focus will be on the maintenance, repair and modification of aircraft seating systems in addition to creating and installing high‑quality upholstery for a variety of aircraft components. You will work with a team of experienced professionals to ensure that every detail, from the structural integrity of the seat to the quality of the stitching and finishing touches, is perfect.
- Perform basic stripping operations of fabric from aircraft surfaces to prepare for remodeling and recovery.
- Work with leather and fabrics to refurbish aircraft seating to high‑quality levels.
- Pattern, cut, sew, cement and trim upholstery fabrics for drapery, divans, chairs, headliners, side panels, containers and engine and propeller covers.
- Assist in covering flight control surfaces.
- Perform routing and complex sewing operations.
- Document all work accomplished in a clear, concise and accurate manner.
- Work with the team to complete established goals.
- Willingness to work on a team with both experienced technicians and mentor junior technicians with a calm demeanor.
- Ability to communicate well in straightforward situations.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Excellent workmanship aptitude and a desire to initiate improvements.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to attain and retain AOA badge or airport requirements.
- 5+ years sewing and pattern‑making experience preferred.

The wage scale for this position ranges from $19.00 to $40.00 per hour, based on experience, qualifications and performance. Specific compensation for this role will be determined by several factors including but not limited to minimum and preferred qualifications, knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience and location.
