The purpose of the Youth Sports Coach Volunteer position is to provide an enjoyable and safe sporting experience for an assigned group of athletes, while they learn individual and team game skills, sportsmanship, and fair play.

• Preside over team activities including all scheduled practices and games.
• Adhere to YMCA policies, rules, and objectives.
• Maintain care of all YMCA sports equipment.
• Lead by example among team parents to support the responsibilities of the referee and league leadership.
• Coach an assigned group of children and focus on skill development, safety, fair play, sportsmanship and fun.
• Work to establish and improve team unity and spirit.
• Ensure equal playing time for all players, regardless of the score.

• Desire to work with children.
• Possess organizational skills, patience, maturity, and dependability.
• Sound character, strong morals, values, and personal ethics.

• Complete YMCA coaching training.
• Complete volunteer packet and background check.
• Signed Code of Conduct & Waiver.
• Signed job description and coaches contract prior to beginning of season.
• Coaching is available for one calendar year. After that coaches would need to reapply.
