The Mine Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating a variety of heavy equipment, primarily bulldozers and excavators, used in construction, maintenance, and excavation.

• Operate heavy equipment of various sizes and weights used in excavation and site construction.
• Properly follow company safety procedures.
• Bring problems to the attention of the foreman, superintendent, safety director, or HR manager.
• Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects or needed repairs to the supervisor; clean equipment.
• Know moisture condition, cut grade, and ability to load trucks.
• Know cutting and filling grade.
• Prefer knowledge of GPS.

• At least 3-5 years recent experience in construction as a heavy equipment operator.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate.

• High School diploma or equivalent, preferred.
• Excavator experience, required.
• Dozer experience, required.
• Roller experience, preferred.
• Motor Grader experience, preferred.
• Articulated Truck experience, preferred.

• Bending, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, kneeling, sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, stooping, squatting, pulling, pushing, climbing, crouching, crawling, talking, hearing, and seeing for long periods of time.
• Moderate to heavy lifting and carrying.
• Prolonged periods of sitting on a forklift or other warehouse equipment.
• Exposure to moderate noise levels, vibrations, and bright lights; dust, fumes, gases; all climate types including hot and cold temperatures, humidity, rain, snow, etc.
• Able to wear common protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, breathing protection, and hard hats when needed.
• Able to work under stressful conditions at times.
• React quickly using hands, fingers, or feet.
• Must be able to move and lift to 40-pound wooden skid or pallet.
• Ability to travel throughout facility as required to conduct safety inspections.
• Must be able to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions.
• Must be able to complete tasks even with frequent interruptions.
• Must be able to use discretion and independent judgment as needed.
• Must be able to speak clearly on the phone and to fellow workers.
