Light Resin Transfer Molding (LRTM) Technician

Position Summary:

The LRTM Technician is responsible for producing high-quality composite boat parts using the Light Resin Transfer Molding process. This role involves mold preparation, gel coating, fiberglass layup, resin infusion, demolding, and quality inspection to ensure finished parts meet company standards for strength, finish, and appearance.

• Mold Preparation:
  Clean, wax, and inspect LRTM molds prior to production; apply release agents and verify mold integrity before layup.
• Fiberglass Layup & Assembly:
  Accurately cut and place dry reinforcement materials into the mold; install inserts, vacuum seals, and other hardware per work instructions.
• Resin Infusion:
  Assemble and secure counter mold; set up and monitor vacuum systems, resin lines, and injection points; mix and inject resin according to specified ratios and parameters.
• Curing & Demolding:
  Monitor curing process and perform demolding once complete; inspect for defects such as voids, dry spots, delamination.
• Finishing & Inspection:
  Trim, grind, and finish molded parts to specs; perform quality checks and ensure parts meet dimensional and cosmetic standards.

• Education:
  
  High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience:
  
  1–2 years in fiberglass or composite manufacturing preferred; experience with LRTM or vacuum infusion highly desirable.
• Skills & Abilities:
  Ability to read and follow technical drawings and safety guidelines; familiarity with composite materials, resins, and vacuum systems; good attention to detail and manual dexterity.

• Lift up to 50 lbs.
• Prolonged standing, walking, kneeling, bending; work in non-climate controlled environments.
