Overview
As Market Lead, Energy (Canada East), you will play a defining role in shaping WSP’s Energy strategy across eastern Canada and beyond, influencing major energy systems and supporting the transition to resilient, low‑carbon infrastructure.
Responsibilities- Act as Technical Market Leader for Energy, reporting to Vice‑President‑Energy.
- Lead and grow the Energy practice in Eastern Canada.
- Serve as a thought leader and external "go‑to" resource in the energy sector.
- Make decisions on complex technical and project execution issues.
- Anticipate business needs, secure resources, and drive organizational change initiatives.
- Recommend and influence technical and complex aspects of WSP projects.
- Lead specific client accounts and engagements within the Energy Group.
- Support growth of technical disciplines required for Energy.
- Ensure compliance with regulations and standards; provide governance on major projects.
- Provide oversight on Energy jobs quality and leadership on proposals.
- Collaborate with internal departments and stakeholders to improve quality and delivery, including sub‑consultant management.
- Mentor and coach other Energy staff as required.
- At least 18 years of experience, including a minimum of 10 years in a leadership role in the Energy sector.
- Hands‑on experience with project delivery.
- Engineering degree in a related discipline or technical diploma from a post‑secondary institution.
- Proven business development experience with an existing network in the Eastern Canadian Energy market (Ontario, Quebec, Atlantic provinces).
- Strong financial and business acumen; experience managing operations or a P&L is an asset.
- Solid understanding of energy sector trends and emerging technologies related to energy transformation and decarbonization.
- Ability to negotiate and build client relationships.
- P.Eng. or P.Tech. designation is an asset.
- Bilingual in French and English (required).
- BC, AB, SK, NWT & NU: $147,500 – $195,400
- MB & ON: $134,600 – $184,600
- Atlantic Provinces & QC: $133,200 – $176,900
