The OpportunityAs a Mechanical Layout Designer, you will play a key role in the design and optimization of layout design for heavy industrial projects across the subsector.
LocationThis position will be located in one of our Canadian offices with preference for Northern Ontario.
Responsibilities- Prepare 3D models and layout general arrangements for existing plant upgrades and new facilities
- Review vendor drawings to ensure conformity with engineering designs prior to fabrication
- Prepare design calculations and design briefs
- Prepare design sketches
- Conduct trade‑off studies and prepare reports
- Participate in field engineering assignments
- Prepare all design work related to layout general arrangements and equipment model development
- Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure timely and accurate flow of design information while maintaining departmental and client standards
- Maintain and revise equipment libraries, department standards, and procedures
- Attend model reviews
- College Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent
- 8+ years experience in mechanical engineering design specifically with experience in layout design for heavy industrial and/or mining projects
- Strong understanding of mechanical equipment installation requirements in the field
- Must have consulting experience
- Proven experience with Plant3D, Revit, Microstation, Solid Edge and Smart Plant
- Solid communication skills (written and verbal)
- French language skills (written and verbal) an asset
- Strong interpersonal skills, a positive attitude, and a desire to perform design engineering
- Strong critical thinking skills and an ability to problem solve effectively
BC, AB, SK, NWT & NU: $77,400 – $102,500
MB & ON: $70,600 – $97,200
Atlantic Provinces & QC: $69,900 – $92,900
The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs. The wage range provided in this posting may be subject to change for business purposes.
