Job Description

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of Island Health (Vancouver Island Health Authority), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reporting to the Manager with professional and clinical support from the Manager, Pain Program, and working without general supervision within an inter‑professional, chronic disease management framework, the Occupational Therapist‑Pain Program, with the Pain Program inter‑disciplinary team, assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates plans for patients/clients with chronic pain. Responsible for planning and implementing patient education materials and sessions, referral to community resources, and setting up ongoing self‑management and rehabilitation plans for patients/clients.

Qualifications

Education, Training And

Experience:

Graduation from a recognised university programme in Occupational Therapy. Current licensure in a practising category with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC as an Occupational Therapist. Eligible for membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT). Two (2) years’ recent, related experience in tertiary level care chronic pain management/rehabilitation or an combination of education, training and experience.
