AI Software Developer

Position

Description:

CGI is seeking an AI Software Developer to design, develop, and support scalable AI-powered healthcare technology solutions across backend systems, cloud infrastructure, automation, and modern web applications. This role is ideal for a hands-on developer with strong experience in AI/LLM technologies, cloud-native development, and full-stack engineering within secure and regulated environments.

This is a hybrid position requiring 2 days onsite and is open to candidates across Canada either located in:
Halifax, NS;
Fredericton, NB;
Moncton, NB;
Stratford, PEI; or St. John’s, NL or open to relocate to one of these locations.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

Backend & API Development

• Design and maintain scalable APIs using Python, FastAPI, Pydantic, and related technologies.

• Build secure authentication and encryption workflows following industry best practices.

• Develop media processing pipelines and AI integrations using libraries such as Torch, Num Py, and FFmpeg.

• Create and maintain unit and integration tests using pytest.

AI & LLM Engineering

• Develop and optimize prompt engineering workflows for production AI applications.

• Implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines, vector databases, and orchestration frameworks such as Lang Chain.

• Deploy and manage LLM runtimes including Ollama for local and cloud-based inference.

• Configure AI solutions for healthcare-specific use cases while ensuring compliance and data security.

Frontend & User Experience

• Build responsive, accessible user interfaces using React, TypeScript, Vite, and MUI.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver intuitive and high-quality user experiences.

Automation, Cloud & Dev Ops

• Develop automated end-to-end testing using Playwright and Jest.

• Design and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure including EC2, ECS/EKS, S3, Lambda, Aurora/RDS, IAM, Route 53, VPC, and related services.

• Build containerized applications using Docker and modern deployment practices.

• Implement CI/CD pipelines using Git Hub Actions for automated testing and deployments.

• Contribute to scalable architectures including microservices and distributed systems.

Database & Solution Architecture

• Design and optimize Postgre

SQL databases, queries, and data models.

• Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.

• Contribute to architectural decisions ensuring performance, reliability, maintainability, and security.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• Strong experience with Python, FastAPI, and modern backend development practices.

• Hands-on experience with LLMs, RAG pipelines, Lang Chain, and prompt engineering.

• Proficiency in React, TypeScript, and modern frontend frameworks/tools.

• Experience designing and deploying cloud-native solutions on AWS.

• Strong understanding of Docker, CI/CD pipelines, Git Hub Actions, and automated testing frameworks.

• Experience with Postgre

SQL and SQL optimization.

• Knowledge of C++ for performance-focused integrations is an asset.

• Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, regulated environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working within healthcare or other regulated industries.

• Exposure to ML model deployment or MLOps practices.

• Familiarity with microservices and distributed architectures.

• Strong communication skills with the ability to contribute to technical leadership initiatives.

CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $65,–$,. This role is an existing vacancy.
