Support cleaner communities as a Waste and Recycling Helper with GFL, collecting materials and operating truck compaction equipment. Safety guides every route.
This helper position works alongside a driver across residential and commercial routes. You will collect solid waste, organic materials, and recyclables while supporting route maintenance. The work includes equipment operation, material handling, driver assistance, customer interaction, and strict safety compliance.
Key Responsibilities:- Collect waste, organics, and recyclables from premises or curbsides
- Load materials into rear or side vehicle compartments
- Operate hydraulic compaction equipment and truck controls
- Direct drivers during backing and tight-space navigation
- Identify prohibited items and report route concerns
- High School Diploma or GED preferred, not required
- Related labor or waste experience preferred, not required
- Valid driver’s license is a plus, not required
- Meet criteria for safety-sensitive functions and screenings
- Lift up to 65 pounds regularly
