Role importance

Reporting directly to the Supervisor, Supply Chain, the Associate, Inventory is responsible for inventory management and supports procurement for Central Pharmacy Services. The Inventory Associate carries out daily inventory tasks including placing orders, maintaining MSLs, receiving orders, and investigating discrepancies. They will monitor and maintain MMS by performing tasks such as holding tanks, updating UPCs, utilizing suggested orders, and reviewing DIN equivalent reports.

Responsibilities
  • Unpack and receive pharmacy totes inside the pharmacy in a secure environment.
  • Put away received pharmacy inventory in the appropriate location according to established workflow.
  • Ensure stock rotation is completed, expired product is removed, and returned in accordance with SOPs. Update equivalent reports.
  • Perform cycle counts in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Carry out daily inventory tasks, including placing orders, receiving orders, investigating discrepancies, and maintaining the MMS system for stock management and control.
  • Order and maintain non-prescription merchandise in the dispensary, including stock rotation and management of expired product.
  • Review operations initiatives to determine inventory needs, considering current on-hand inventory and lead times.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement within Inventory Management to meet performance, quality, and financial targets.
  • Partner with operational site and other teams to resolve inventory-related issues.
  • Maintain proper storage of medications according to 5S principles.
  • Manage wastage, expiry, and returns in accordance with disposal protocols (e.g., Stericycle One Box or return to vendor).
  • Prioritize recalls and isolate product; quarantine until recall details are provided, supporting Quality and Compliance.
  • Manage preferred generic product DSP changes, reviewing DIN and UPC changes; identify drug appearance changes.
  • Maintain stock levels to ensure uninterrupted supply; perform cycle counts and communicate low/out-of-stock situations per procedures.
  • Review daily inventory communications, including product shortages, availability reports, new generics, dedicated supplier products, and product appearance changes.

  • Post-secondary education with 1-2 years in Pharmacy or Inventory.
  • Creative problem solver with ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy with ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong skills in MS Office, particularly Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Practical written and verbal communication skills.
  • Interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.

Compensation
