We will determine salary based on skills and experience in relation to the function of the role, as well as equity to any other employees in the same or similar role.

The Operator will operate heavy machinery for construction or excavation projects in a safe manner, avoiding utilities and other obstacles.

• Operate heavy equipment in compliance with the company's operating safety policies and procedures.
• Load and unload equipment from vehicles and trailers.
• Responsible for regular maintenance and care of the assigned heavy equipment, producing any documentation needed for each job, and daily communication with managers is a must.
• Load and haul the machine.
• Drive, set up, and break down safely and efficiently.
• Operate heavy equipment near active utilities.
• Have knowledge of shoring systems and how to use them
• Rigging and setting of structures
• Willing to assist in other activities such as placement of conduit in open trenches, proofing conduits, potholing existing utilities, forming and pouring concrete, and placement of asphalt
• Avoids any marked utilities and implements all precautions to prevent utility strikes.
• Communicates with supervisors for job details.
• Before the equipment is utilized, walks the path to ensure all utilities have been located and develops a plan for going above or below each utility or obstacle in the path.
• Inspects and maintains job equipment.
• Adheres to all company policies, procedures, standards, and safety rules.
• May be required to work additional hours and/or weekends, as needed, to meet deadlines.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 1-year prior experience using locating equipment to find underground utilities.
• Experience operating heavy equipment near active utilities.
• Experience with CATV / Spectrum.
• Preferred:
  Mini X / Excavator skills and training.
• Concrete finishing and asphalt restoration experience is a plus.
• Bucket truck training and certifications are a plus.
• Familiarity with locate systems.
• Ability to operate asphalt roller, skid steer, backhoe, mini excavator, vacuum truck, bore machine, and other heavy equipment.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL with tanker endorsement or willingness to obtain the license; DOT Medical Card.
• Experience with Ditch Witch and Vermeer preferred.
• Ability to operate safely and read/understand plans and specifications.
• Compliance with OSHA, ANSI standards, and company rules; basic computer skills; knowledge of basic shoring methods.

• Must be able and willing to work outdoors, subject to inclement weather conditions.
• Must be able to maintain visual and audible contact with crew and others for safe coordination.
• Must be able to work around heavy equipment and machinery.
• Must be able to stand or walk for long periods; bend, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting.
• Must be able to work while wearing safety boots, safety glasses, hard hat, and applicable safety gear.
