Vision for Education is urgently recruiting a full-time Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Monmouth from September 2026
.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Support Worker or graduate looking to build a career in education and gain valuable experience supporting pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) and Special Educational Needs (SEN).
You will work alongside experienced teachers and support staff to help pupils access learning, develop independence and build confidence in a supportive and nurturing school environment.
The RoleAs a Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils across primary and secondary age groups with a range of additional learning needs.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing one-to-one and small-group support
- Supporting pupils to access classroom learning
- Assisting with personalised learning activities
- Encouraging communication, independence and social development
- Supporting positive behaviour and emotional regulation
- Helping pupils with transitions and daily routines
- Adapting resources to meet individual needs
- Building positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Creating a safe, structured and engaging learning environment
You may support pupils with needs including:
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- ADHD
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)
- Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD and SLD)
- Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
- Sensory processing needs
- Physical and complex learning needs
This role would suit someone with experience in education, care, support work, residential childcare, youth work, sports coaching, psychology, health or social care
.
Previous SEN or ALN experience is desirable but not essential
. We are particularly interested in candidates who are:
- Caring, patient and resilient
- Confident working with children and young people
- Able to build positive relationships
- Calm and consistent when supporting challenging behaviour
- Passionate about helping pupils overcome barriers to learning
- Keen to develop their experience within specialist education
A CACHE Level 2, CACHE Level 3 or equivalent qualification is desirable but not essential.
