Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for dedicated and experienced 1:1 Teaching Assistants to support pupils across schools within the NP25 area.

We are looking for individuals who are confident providing 1:1 support and who can also work effectively within Special Educational Needs (SEN) environments, including Specialist Resource Bases (SRBs).

These roles are ideal for candidates who have experience supporting children with a wide range of Additional Learning Needs (ALN) and are passionate about helping pupils overcome barriers to learning.

About the Role

You may be required to support pupils on a one-to-one basis or within specialist provisions that cater for children with complex learning needs.

Some of our partner schools operate Specialist Resource Bases (SRBs), supporting pupils with:

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)
Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
Communication and interaction needs
Sensory needs and complex developmental needs
These pupils require a tailored approach to learning, with access to specialist equipment, resources, and structured support to help them engage with the curriculum and achieve their individual goals.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality 1:1 support tailored to individual pupil needs.
Support pupils with complex ALN both in and out of the classroom.
Assist with implementing Individual Development Plans (IDPs) and targeted interventions.
Foster independence, engagement, communication, and social development.
Support pupils with personal, emotional, and behavioural needs where required.
Work collaboratively with teachers, ALNCos, therapists, and other professionals.
Use specialist resources and equipment to enhance learning and development.
Create a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
Essential Skills & Experience

✔ Previous experience working in schools, SEN provisions, or specialist settings.

✔ Experience supporting children with Autism, SLD, PMLD, SEMH, ADHD, or other complex additional needs.

✔ Confidence working both independently on a 1:1 basis and as part of a wider classroom team.

Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.

✔ Patience, resilience, empathy, and a nurturing approach.

✔ Understanding of differentiated learning strategies and how to adapt support to meet individual needs.

✔ Confidence using specialist approaches, visual supports, communication aids, and sensory-based learning techniques.

✔ Ability to support pupils who may require assistance with personal care or mobility needs.

Registration & Compliance Requirements

To work through Teaching Personnel, all successful applicants must complete our full registration and safeguarding process, including:

✔ An Enhanced DBS Certificate on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for a DBS through Teaching Personnel.

✔ Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).

✔ Provision of professional references covering the last two years.

✔ Completion of all required vetting and safeguarding checks before being cleared for work.
