Regional Sales Manager – Western US Territory
AXEL is a manufacturer of external mold release agents and process aid additives for all types of fiberglass reinforced composites, polyurethanes, thermoplastics and rubbers. Experience in the field of composites and/or polyurethanes is highly desirable for this position.
This position will be responsible for sales and technical support in the Western U.S. for all key markets and product lines that AXEL manufactures. The territory includes TX, ND, SD, OK, KS, NM, CO, AZ, UT, NV, WA, OR, WY, , CA.
Major Areas of Responsibility Customer Contact and Relationships- Maintain close contact with customers and develop strong relationships with key decision‑makers, including technical personnel, purchasing and marketing departments.
- Know customer requirements, processes, direction, potential, structure and market share. Communicate internally for maximum support and customer satisfaction.
- Know and understand what AXEL has to offer and effectively communicate to customers.
- Capitalize on opportunities to grow the territory through the introduction of products, services and other capabilities.
- Manage relationships with external Sales Representatives (Distribution Reps) through joint customer development, account conversions and customer relationship support.
- Support and achieve the Sales Plan through the retention of key accounts and development of target accounts.
- Manage local pricing and increase sales in the territory for maximum profitability.
- Communicate all important business, market, competitive, and customer issues on a timely basis to management and others involved. Report project status, business activity and market intelligence to the VP, Global Commercial on a monthly basis. Summarize activities on a routine basis as required and provide quarterly reviews to plan. Submit call reports on a timely basis.
- Comply with safety rules and regulations. Report injury/illness and/or environmental incidents.
- 5+ years of sales experience in mold release or related chemical fields; fiberglass reinforced composite or polyurethane industry experience preferred.
- 4‑year degree or equivalent business experience in an appropriate field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Problem‑solving skills; ability to operate independently and work to resolve and overcome obstacles.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work in a high‑paced environment and manage multiple projects.
- Spanish fluency preferred.
- Ability to travel 35‑50% of the time.
- Time management.
- Comfortable working in manufacturing/production environments in hands‑on situations working directly with our products.
- Experience working with a CRM, preferably Hub Spot.
- Sales increase / decrease both direct and through distribution channel partners.
- Market share increase / decrease both direct and through distribution channel partners.
- Contribution margin increase / decrease.
- On‑time completion of projects.
- Accuracy and content of plans and reports.
- Timely submittal of customer call reports.
