Position Summary: The Certified Medication Aide (CMA) provides hands-on supervision of caregiver staff during their shift, ensures the provision of quality resident care, and upholds the residence's philosophy and resident well-being. The CMA properly administers scheduled medications to residents in accordance with state regulations and policies. They provide personalized care and services, follow policies and procedures, respond effectively to emergency situations, and ensure residents' rights to safe, prompt, and confidential treatment.
Qualifications: A minimum of one year of experience working with residents in a Senior Living environment. Supervisory experience in a healthcare or service industry is preferred. Must have a Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate and a Georgia Certified Medication Aide Certificate, in good standing with the Georgia CNA/CMA Registry. Must be able to speak, read, and write English. Friendly, caring disposition. Desire to work with older adults.
Must be 21 years of age. Must pass a satisfactory criminal history check, a physical exam by a licensed physician, and a negative drug screen. Must be able to react appropriately in emergency situations.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Carry out assigned duties effectively as directed by the Executive Director.
- Supervise caregiver staff to provide quality care and meet residents' needs according to policies and philosophy.
- Follow each resident's Negotiated Service Plan and notify the Executive Director of any changes in condition.
- Respond promptly to resident calls and emergencies following proper procedures.
- Assist with meal service and supervise dining room cleanliness.
- Follow infection control protocols and dispose of waste properly.
- Build good relationships with residents and their families.
- Assist in staffing schedules to meet resident needs.
- Respond to on-the-job injuries per policies.
- Lead by example, promote teamwork, and maintain an open-door policy for staff concerns.
- Maintain CPR & First Aid certification.
Medication Administration: Attend all staff meetings and training. Communicate residents' needs and changes to the staff and Director effectively. Report any medication issues, adverse reactions, or concerns promptly.
