Position Summary:
The Transmission Training Specialist is a full-time position that provides services related to safety, health, work methods, and training. This will include field visits with crews, identifying areas requiring training, conducting training in on-the-job settings or in other facilities, and evaluating performance in simulated and actual environments. The ideal candidate will have multiple years of experience and subject matter expertise related to training, safety, and quality control.
Functions
- Visit crews in the field and observe, train, and teach safety, quality, and work methods coupled with on-boarding new hire employees.
- Oversee the safety compliance during construction of large transmission projects from start to finish, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, timelines, and construction standards.
- Identify areas that need further focus, develop schedules, and present training materials on those areas.
- Identify crews that need further training on safety, quality, and work methods. Work with Area Supervisor to develop plans to train and address crew deficiencies.
- Demonstrate proficiency in all aspects of transmission construction, (ie... pulling/installing conductors, structure setting and removal, rigging, and optimizing efficiency while maintaining safety.
- Utilize your expertise in establishing and maintaining equipotential zones to protect workers from electric shock hazards during the construction process.
- Create and maintain safety documents, ensuring compliance with all relevant OSHA regulations and company policies.
- Evaluate employee and driver performance.
- Conduct program level audits of EHS programs.
- Recognize problems and respond, systematically gathers information, sorts through complex issues, seeks input from others, addresses root cause of issues, makes timely decisions, can make difficult decisions, uses consensus, when possible, communicates decisions to others.
- Manage deenergized work procedures, including clearance windows, to facilitate safe and secure work execution.
- Utilize your in-depth understanding of work clearances specific to Florida to ensure compliance and safety during construction activities.
- Target and achieve results, set challenging goals, prioritize tasks, overcome obstacles, accept accountability.
- Foster a collaborative and results-driven work environment, motivating and guiding the construction team to achieve project objectives effectively.
- Promote a culture of safety excellence, enforcing safety protocols, and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement in safety practices while acting as the liaison between safety and utilities organization.
- Must have a Class A commercial drivers’ license with Intrastate
- Certified OSHA Authorized Outreach Instructor, Preferred
- Certified CSP, CHST, CUSP, CET, Preferred
- 4-10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education/experience
- Must be able to work a flexible shift
- Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, etc.
- Able to speak effectively before groups of people
- Able to type out routine reports and correspondence
- Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide
- Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions
- Able to deal with large diverse groups
- Skilled in the use of computers
- Adapt to new technology, keeps abreast of changes, learns new programs quickly, uses computers to improve productivity
- Able to conduct yourself in a professional manner
