PositionGroup Lead – Steering Machining Department (Shift E – Monday to Thursday, 7:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.)
Essential Functions- Maintaining control over the production line at all times, which may require close interaction with Mfg. Engineering, Maintenance, and Quality.
- Performing troubleshooting activities on CNC Machines to gather root cause and escalating to Mfg. Engineering, Maintenance, Production, and Quality.
- Performing tool changes on CNC equipment including hobbing, grinding, milling, and turning machines.
- Ensuring all daily production activities are thoroughly communicated to Supervisors.
- May be required to perform tasks associated with troubleshooting product quality and performance.
- Maintaining the production line in a safe, neat, clean, and organized environment.
- Assisting as needed on the production line.
- Respecting work hours, supporting production goals and timelines, which may require overtime.
- Utilizing knowledge of ISO
14000 & TS16949 to ensure all associates follow procedures and work instructions. - All production, scrap, and down-time reports are completed properly and timely.
- Product and/or component dimensions are checked via in-process inspection check sheets with various indicators and gauges as described in procedures or work instructions.
- Equipment is monitored for unusual sounds, movements, or appearance that may indicate problems; addressing any abnormalities.
- Changing of simple parts and fixtures to facilitate changeover of product types.
- Visually and manually checking for defects in product or workmanship.
- Recording of process equipment settings and conditions using equipment verification check sheets.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably with machining or high-speed equipment.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
- Ability to read and interpret CMM reports, GD&T, and technical drawings.
- Familiarity with quality control, inspection tools, and geometric tolerancing.
- Able to read work instructions and complete basic production reports.
- Must be physically able to perform tasks involving frequent bending, lifting (up to 25 lbs regularly), and standing for extended periods.
- This role does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but requires strong leadership to guide and support production associates.
- Frequent walking, standing, bending, and use of hands for handling tools and controls.
- Occasional lifting of items up to 50 lbs.
- Regular lifting and moving of parts and tools up to 25 lbs.
- Manufacturing/warehouse setting with exposure to moving machinery and loud noise levels.
- Use of personal protective equipment is required in designated areas.
