About this Job
Our mission is to provide flood protection through the operation and maintenance of a large flood control system which consists of levees, pumping stations, floodgates, flood walls, and drainage structures.
About this PositionThe goal of the maintenance department is to ensure that the flood control measures they are responsible for operate in the manner in which they were designed.
Minimum QualificationsThree years of experience as a mechanic, or in the alteration, construction, maintenance or repair of bridges, buildings, drainage facilities, grounds, levees, roads, or wharfs.
Job Duties- Supervise work crews performing levee maintenance including mowing with wheel‑type tractors and bush hog cutters, chemical maintenance with heavy‑duty tractors, pulled spray equipment, and repair using wheel‑type tractors with dirt pans, bulldozers, track hoes, and heavy dump trucks.
- Supervise channel clearing and tree removal using a track hoe with a shear, Timber King tree and brush grinder, bulldozers, and track hoes.
- Supervise crews in flood‑fighting, including sandbagging, constructing flood barriers such as floodwall closings, temporary levees, and pumping station operations.
- Consult with the Levee Board Superintendent and/or Levee Foreman on upcoming projects, address leave, and other incidental reports such as fuel inventory.

Compensation:
The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
