Position: Safety Professional 1

Position Title: Safety Professional 1

Position Summary: The Safety Professional is responsible for oversight of Construction Project Safety, Health (S&H), and Risk Management. This includes managing multiple Safety programs, developing and implementing site-specific safety plans, and collaborating with Project Management on the Operational Risk Management (ORM) process. The role requires providing solutions to complex problems that are innovative, thorough, and practical.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with General Contractor (GC) and/or owner regarding site conditions and Non-Compliance Notices (NCN).
  • Participate in meetings with clients, project teams, and contractors/sub-contractors to discuss mitigation plans, safety training, and technical reports.
  • Assist in developing and implementing Site Specific Accident Prevention Programs (APP) and training plans according to project safety standards.
  • Manage site safety budgets, ensure proper permits, and compliance with contracts, plans, and specifications.
  • Lead the Operational Risk Management (ORM) team in reviewing and developing safety plans based on project and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct or assist with incident investigations and reporting.
  • Maintain knowledge of safety standards, OSHA, DOT, insurance audits, workers' compensation, and emergency plans.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including SharePoint.
Qualifications

Requirements include:

  • 6+ years with a high school diploma
  • 4+ years with an Associate's Degree
  • Experience in S&H training, regulatory compliance, and safety management systems (OSHA, EM-385, ANSI-Z10, OHSAS 18001, ISO 31000)
  • Understanding of safety culture and building skills
  • Trainer certification - OSHA 500/502;
    Safety and Health / Occupational Safety degree from an ABET-accredited program
  • Willingness to pursue certifications such as ASP, CSP, CHST
  • Previous experience in electrical, construction, industrial, federal, or commercial S&H fields
Abilities
  • Prolonged exposure to computer screens and sitting.
  • Reaching and finger dexterity for manipulating objects and keyboard use.
  • Effective listening, speaking, reading, and comprehension skills.
  • Ability to apply rules to solve specific problems and understand spoken communication.
