RELEASE OF ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION INFORMATION: La. R.S. 17:3884(D) requires that any school board wishing to hire a person who has been assessed or evaluated pursuant to the Children First Act, La. R.S. 17:3871, et seq., whether that person is already employed by that school system or not, shall request such person's assessment and evaluation results as part of the application process.

Physical Activity Level: Some work is performed in physically comfortable positions with little or light physical effort, and some work requires moderate effort. Lifting thirty to forty pounds may be required, along with brief periods of heavy muscular exertion. Interpreting and transliterating require extended use of upper body muscles and fine motor movements of the hands. Physical requirements are subject to reasonable accommodation under ADA standards.

A valid Louisiana teacher’s certificate with certification in special education is required.
A Master’s degree from an accredited institution is required.
A minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience in Special Education or a related field, with knowledge of interpreting evaluation reports and developing compliant Individual Education Plans.
Ability to drive or ride in a vehicle for extended periods is required. Statewide travel is also required.
- Provides consultation and direct services such as developing IEPs, in-service training, intervention strategies, referrals, and data collection for reports.
- Serves as a facilitator at IEP conferences and liaises between programs, agencies, and evaluation teams for student placement.
- Advocates for students with relevant personnel and agencies.
- Provides staff training on IEP development and special education topics, staying updated on policy changes.
- Participates in eligibility determination and IEP staffing as appropriate.
- Works with stakeholders to review data, establish standards, monitor progress, and promote student growth.
- Implements research-based strategies and uses data to develop and maintain district and school vision.
- Uses data management skills to focus on student success and compliance.
