Head Start Teacher Assistant – Innovative Network of Knowledge – Monroe, LA

Compensation: $35,000.00‑$40,000.00

• High school diploma or GED, and completion of Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) or state‑awarded certificate that meets or exceeds CDA requirements, or enrollment in a program leading to an Associate or Bachelors degree or CDA credential within two years.
• Prefer Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
• Prefer two years of experience in a preschool classroom setting.
• Prefer bilingual (Spanish).
• Valid driver’s license.
• Pass health examination, driving history check, and clear criminal background check.
• Ability to lift up to 60 pounds and perform physical tasks required by the job.
• Ability to respond sensitively to cultural and socio‑economic characteristics.
• Effective written and verbal communication in English;
  Spanish is preferred.
• Maintain emotional control and professional composure at all times.
• Work independently.
• Knowledge of INK policies and procedures.
• Travel up to 50% as required.
• Evening and weekend work may occasionally be required.

• Protect the physical and mental health and safety of children, ensuring no child is left alone or unsupervised (HSPPS 1302.90).
• Assist with responsive care, effective teaching, and an organized learning environment that promotes healthy development and skill growth aligned with the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework (Ages Birth to Five), including children with disabilities (HSPPS 1302.31).
• Assist with implementation of prescribed curricula, providing developmentally appropriate learning experiences across language, literacy, social/emotional, math, science, social studies, creative arts, and physical development. Integrate child assessment data in individual and group planning (HSPPS 1302.31, 1302.32).
• Support screenings, assessments, and ongoing evaluation of each child’s developmental level and progress (HSPPS 1302.33).
• Support opportunities for parents and family members to engage in child development and program services, including parent conferences, home visits, and group activities (HSPPS 1302.34).
• Follow appropriate practices to keep children safe during all activities; report suspected or known child abuse and neglect; maintain appropriate supervision and conduct standards (HSPPS 1302.47, 1302.90).
• Comply with positive adult‑child interactions measured by the CLASS Pre‑K instrument (HSPPS 1304.16).
• Complete minimum training requirements specified in state and federal standards (HSPPS 1302.92).
• Maintain regular communication with teachers, ensuring they are informed about student behavior and progress.
• Maintain child files, classroom forms, and documentation, ensuring compliance and organization.
• Monitor the classroom to ensure it is free from physical and environmental hazards.
• Ensure incident reporting occurs within designated time frames (HSPPS 1302.47, 1302.90).
• Use age‑appropriate equipment, materials, and space for indoor and outdoor learning. Update materials to support child development.
• Support teachers’ response to classroom observations by modifying strategies and lesson plans in line with prescribed curricula.
• Communicate child observations to teachers, identifying potential interference with development and readiness.
• Coordinate with education, family, mental health, and child development professionals to address identified needs.
• Participate in school functions, scheduled meetings, and team decisions and operations.
• Work collaboratively with staff members, service providers, and professionals.
• Maintain confidentiality in all areas of child and program operations.
• Perform other job duties as assigned.
