Mechanical Engineer, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Position Overview
As an Entry Level Equipment Engineer, you will support Regional Construction & Mining operations. This position is responsible for the planning, scheduling, budgeting, utilization, and reliability of a construction and mining equipment fleet. Your main focus will be to improve equipment reliability and manage preventative maintenance programs, while dealing with day‑to‑day and long‑term equipment fleet issues.
For this role, the start date is immediate.

Responsibilities- Understand and comply with all federal, state, and company health, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Handle material procurement.
- Create and maintain tool/filter lists and documentation.
- Conduct inspections of equipment and parts.
- Manage logistics and communicate with stakeholders.
- Plan, schedule, and budget equipment for the long and short term.
- Prepare paperwork for critical lifts.
- Use reliability and failure analysis data to increase equipment availability and reliability.
- Maintain communication between all levels of supervision and management.
- Support craft maintenance technicians—ordering parts, managing inventory, scheduling crews, ensuring quality and safety.
- Assist with specialty projects as needed.
- Undergraduate AS/BS degree in Diesel/Automotive Technology, Heavy Equipment Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or Construction Management.
- Optional 1+ year of experience with equipment.
- Optional 1+ year of experience with equipment planning, scheduling, and budgeting.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to get the job done.
- Strong organizational, time management and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Willingness to travel and relocate as required.
- Willingness to work in both office and field environments.
- Knowledge of CAD modeling programs preferred.
- Ability to access all points of a construction site or equipment yard in varied climates and environments.
- Regular, reliable attendance.
- Work productively and meet deadlines in a timely manner.
- Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and other team members.
- Perform work safely and effectively, following oral and written instructions, including warning signs and equipment policies.
- Work during normal operating hours and be willing to work overtime and weekends as required.
- Adapt to various locations and conditions, which may vary.
