The Cardiovascular Interventional Technologist 1 assists the physician in performing interventional, cardiovascular, and operating room procedures. Uses pre-established imaging protocols and departmental policy to perform safe operation of imaging equipment and all functions of the job. May provide complete pre and post education to patients and family. Minimal departmental responsibilities delegated by clinical supervisor. This position focuses on developing strong skills in scrubbing and monitoring in the cardiac cath lab, electrophysiology, and/or interventional radiology.

Reports to Manager or Supervisor.

• Assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac or peripheral vascular treatments, such as implanting pacemakers or assisting with balloon angioplasties to treat blood vessel blockages. Always follows as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA) guidelines and operates fluoroscopic imaging equipment to produce contrast‑enhanced radiographs of the heart, vascular, and cardiovascular system.
• Check, test, and maintain fluoroscopy equipment to ensure proper operation. Complete all other equipment daily checks/tests that must be performed and documented before the first procedure and notify lead and/or service when daily checks/tests fail. Monitor patients' blood pressure, oxygen saturation, heart rate, comfort, and patient safety. Ensure patient vital sign documentation is accurate and alert physicians of abnormalities. Use electrocardiogram (EKG) equipment during diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
  
  Maintain a proper sterile field during surgical procedures.
• Complete additional duties correctly and appropriately within the specified time frame as required by managers/supervisors.

• Experience:
  
  Entry level, no experience needed.
• Education:
  
  High School or equivalent;
  Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist Program.
• Certification/Licensure:
  License or Certification required – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, ARRT (R) Louisiana / Mississippi License;
  Basic Life Support, BLS.
• Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  Compassionate Patient Care, Effective Communication, Attention to detail.
